Dear Hunter,
We may only share a father but you are still my brother. Being 8 ½ years younger than me, I have bottle fed you, changed your diapers, and let you pull my hair when you didn’t know any better. I still remember having to drag you away from dog food when you were a toddler since you wouldn’t stop trying to eat it.
I know we aren’t as close as I would like us to be. I don’t think I’m the best sister I could be to you and I blame myself partially for all the trouble you get yourself into. I wonder if I was around more to take care of you if you wouldn’t have made so many bad decisions. I worry that you will end up in jail or dead from the bad actions you decide to make, like when you started selling weed at the age of 13.
I love you even if I don’t show it or say it to you very often. As much as you’ve pissed me off throughout the years, I still can’t hold a grudge against you; Not for all my stuff that you have broken, for locking me outside in my pajama’s without shoes in the middle of winter, or for all the times you hit me and said horrible things to me.
I know Dad doesn’t understand how to raise you properly but he does his best to show you that he loves you. Try to respect him more because he won’t be around forever. I know our sister ignores you but you have to understand that Courtney is almost 18 years older than you. She doesn’t know how to relate to you, especially with how she feels she was abandoned by Dad. Just know even though we don’t know how to show it, we do love and care about you.
You know that if you ever need me, I will be there for you. I’m just a phone call, text, facebook message, etc. away from you. I hope one day we can start having a real brother/sister relationship and become close friends. I think as you get older it may become easier for us to relate.
